Woman Rising
I provided production and editing consultancy for a documentary that explores the harsh reality of human trafficking in America. In the early stages, I guided the narrative structure, focusing on survivor Cary Stuart's journey to rebuild her life after escaping trafficking. I also offered strategic guidance on integrating stock and contextual footage and music to enhance the film’s impact and create a cohesive viewing experience, effectively positioning it for advocacy and awareness.

The documentary follows the late Haitian spoken word artist Marie Michaelle, exploring her challenges as an immigrant in America, particularly with racism and colorism. As co-producer, director, and cinematographer, I collaborated with a small team to guide the project from concept to post-production, integrating archival, stock, and multi-format footage to weave together her stories from Haiti and her life in Providence and Boston.

This short teaser, which serves as a part of a larger documentary on immigrant experiences, provides an intimate look into the afternoon routine of Saïd, a refugee from Guinea. In my roles as director, cinematographer, and post-production lead, I aimed to convey the emotional complexities of displacement and how food can be a means to establish a sense of familiarity in a foreign environment.

I managed the post-production and handled the editing for a documentary-style promotional film for SAHI, which highlighted the stories of children with hearing impairments alongside testimonials from their families and healthcare professionals. In this role, I crafted a cohesive narrative that vividly depicted the challenges and triumphs these families experience. The film aimed to engage audiences and stakeholders, showcasing the vital efforts being made to support these children.
